La Grande Terche is only an hour’s drive away from Geneva and is perched above the village of St Jean d’Aulps and the valley with the Dranse River coursing right through the area from Vallée d’Aulps and finally flowing into Lake Geneva.
The resort has been developed in harmony with its surrounding area to preserve the beautiful traditional style of the Savoie. The resort offers a relaxing environment to the more crowded and busier resorts in the vicinity.
If you are a confident and competent skier the10km long red circuit running from La Grande Terche through Bellevaux is the longest in the Portes du Soleil. The run travels through breath-taking forestry to picturesque traditional hamlets.
A 15-minute journey will have you in the resorts of Morzine-Avoriaz. The Ardent lift is also in close proximity and gives access to over 650km of linked skiing in the Portes du Soleil.
La Grande Terche boasts several restaurants, bars and mini-markets along with the ski hire concerns and the ski school. Further away in St Jean d’Aulps there are more restaurants along with banks, a pharmacy, a doctor’s surgery and a well stocked Carrefour supermarket with a petrol station.
The resort of La Grande Terche is not only for winter snow sports. During summer it becomes a peaceful retreat where you can enjoy outdoor pursuits with stunning hiking and cycling routes. Paragliding, canyoning, kayaking and many other activities are all on offer.
